Self-diagnosis is no diagnosis at all, I'm afraid. Anybody can read the dsm or web articles and diagnose themselves incorrectly. It's extremely easy to do and we are all prone to it. You're no different to anyone else in that regard, though I'm sure you'll disagree.
For example, the lacking empathy with your animals thing. I can personally relate to this a lot. I'd say I'm almost exactly the same, and I'm definitely not a psychopath.
So get a proper diagnosis first. You obviously think you have some problems, so enlist the help of the medical community. That's what they're there for.
I don't want to knock your research abilities, but the way you mentioned bi-polar disorder in the post indicates that maybe your understanding of these disorders isn't exactly on point.
So, go talk to someone more qualified than yourself, and that will probably go a long way to helping you understand your own behaviour.
