Why?
She'd only end up getting pissed off at you, running to his side, dressing his wounds and comforting him while all the while being pissed off at you for hitting her man. Then he just continues being a dick to her as she stays faithfully by his side, even more so now that the world is being so evil to him, "he needs me now more than ever".
And some women just think that they deserve constant pain, that it's normal to be miserable with who you're with sometimes, with sometimes being defined as 97% of the time. "But he's great the other 3%" or "he has some really good qualities" or "He's changed a lot since we've been together". I've heard so many women say that that I am more likely to hit THEM for staying with the assholes. There literally are plenty more fish in the sea and I can almost guarantee every woman could find a man that would make her happy 97% of the time if she just had the confidence to be a single player on the field long enough and to broaden her standards a bit.
So yeah, it's normal. But ask yourself... what's the greater evil here? The man being an asshole, or this woman letting herself be a victim? In the end, it's not about the man. It's about what happens when someone allows themselves to become dependent on someone who could care less for you. It's about low self-worth, and forgetting that you're better than this.
