The fact that your parents will only let you talk to him is if they listen in pisses me off. I understand that they might be trying to protect you, but that's just a little too nosy. I can definitely say it's normal if you may consider breaking up if in exchange you can have a relationship that's with someone you know in person. I used to date seriously online and nothing really good came from it, really. I met people that I thought were really cool but there was always this longing to meet them that I could never fulfill. It was just too difficult for me to achieve at the time. I'm glad I didn't though because I ended up meeting a perfect guy for me soon after in real life. He's better than anyone I could have met online... Most of the people I knew on there were liars anyway.
You should give it some time and thought before you make any sort of decision. But as I said before, it's very understandable as to why you'd envy your cousin's relationship with the situation you have right now.
