I would have been at the funeral of a friend on Tuesday but he decided he didn't want one, and that he just wants to be buried in a cardboard coffin and then have a simple gathering afterwards with a few drinks and something to eat.
Whether or not I agree (in his case, I do), I think the most important thing is respecting the wishes of the dead.
You may perhaps change your mind about your wishes when you meet someone and perhaps have a family and extended family of your own. But whatever you wish, I hope it gets respected.
