My parents are in their 60s and they have energy, still do lots of fun things, etc. You really think life stops at 40? Man, some people LOVE their 40s. Why not live as long as possible? My grand mother is nearing 90 and can still dance about and have an awesome time.
For me personally, I know I won't be able to accomplish what I want by 40 or even 50. I expect to accomplish everything by 70 and then, if I'm lucky, another 20 or so years of relaxation and people pushing me to play bingo. Yip-eee.
