Is it normal that i want to die a hero?

Is it normal that I want to be a hero? I want to change the world or save someone's life and give my life for a cause? The thing i fear most is living a happy life and being average and dying in my sleep at 85 yr old. If I were a guy, I'd join the marines; instead, I want to be a missionary to unstable/dangerous countries. I desperately want to be someone like Achilles from Troy or the two snipers from Black Hawk Down or Maximus from Gladiator. Am I crazy, or is this somewhat normal?

  • I've felt this way. I sometimes feel like I have to justify all the life that I have wasted by one grand gesture or noble act but the truth is, is that we forget the small things we do, how we affect others lives. No sense in trying just to die. See an opportunity to truly do good, and do it.

  • Finally, I meet someone who shares this! One of my biggest fears is dying peacefully. It is normal.

  • Everyone wishes they could change peoples' lives and be remembered after death. Completely normal.

  • Well maybe you could be a hero. That's what i do. I'm not saying grab a cape or anything but, when you see someone being wronged or treated unfairly step up. Or maybe you should just help people in their day to day

  • Like everybody wants to a hero but when the chance comes they don't realize it and miss it but that doesn't happen to everybody

  • I think like that in a way too. I don't want to die not having done anything significant to change or help the world.

  • That's how I feel, wanting the world to remember my name for generations.
