Is it normal that i want to burn the world and start over?

Ive become very disappointed in what we've let the world become. Is it normal that i feel i should burn the world to the ground and start over? I feel we've gotten too far away from values like justice, fairness, and the value of what we have and instead focus on our greed. I feel we need a purge to rid our world of those who do not contribute

Maybe you could focus on making a positive contribution to the world instead of resorting to a fantasizing cop out.

OP is very self-centered. You'd chose to destroy the world and redestory it, despite that other billions are perfectly happy with their lives? The world isn't perfect, but perfection is impossible anyway.

No thank you. Some of us are actually happy. What a selfish thing to do...to burn the world just because you're unhappy with the way things are.

FUCK HUMANITY! We need to kill ourselves to give this planet a chance to get back to it's old beauty!

Only a megalomaniac would think they have the right to burn the world.
Only a megalomaniac would think they have all the answers.
Only a megalomaniac would think they could rebuild the world so everyone agrees with them all the time.

What values? YOURS, I take it.

Everyone has their own idea of justice.
Each side of a war is convinced they are fighting for their justice, freedom and family.
How will you get everyone to agree 100% of the time?
Heck, we can't even do it on IIN...

    Unfortunately, you are right.
Whether or not you think it, YOU are contributing to 'burning' the world. The problem is, with your viewpoint, is there will be NO starting over.
There IS a way to correct this, but WE need to act, and act quickly.

Yeah, but this is one of the rare cases where fire isn't the answer (though I'm pretty sure you've said that figuratively).

If you want to change the world, all I can say is try to be a better person yourself, and hope that others will follow your example.

and to answer your question, yeah, i'd say it;s normal, because we are humans and we have carnal tendencies within us to do stupid things. however, God gave us His Holy Spirit to instruct us and lead us to the way of righteousness.

that would be against the governance of God. he would have done the exact same thing when Satan and 1/3 of the angels rebelled against Him and worst, plotted the downfall of Adam and Eve. But He DIDN'T. Because only love can awaken love. God chose to use His love, through Jesus(John3:16) to take us back. And because He isn't a slave-driver, he didn't force us to love Him back but He would gladly take in those who willingly submit to Him.

We're headed for a global war against Islam which is the Nazism of our time. So you might get a destroyed planet after all in the future.

I used to think like you but then I realized the shitty people are mixed up with the good people and overall civilization and humanity could be pretty amazing if we got rid of the shitty people and formed a paradise/utopia on earth.

But who's vision will dominate? Some people think Communism is the answer, others say Islam, Christianity, Conservatism, etc.

Everyone has their own idea of forming the 'perfect society' and they've killed millions to achieve. Nearly all of them have lead to fascist totalitarian regimes-look at North Korea today for example.

As terrible as Capitalism is, so far it offers the most freedom compared to other arrangements. It can still be made a lot better though. We need a strong mix of socialism in there. So people don't end up on the street if their company downsizes and fires people.

Not to mention corporate regulation. A shit load of corporate regulation.

I'm sorry Republicans, but I don't agree with giving a clinically psychotic cokehead as much control and you folks advocate that we give them. There has to be boundaries as to how much a corporation should be able to eat up.

You are only partially correct. Humans have been relatively small in numbers, throughout our existence. Regardless of what you might read in history books, we normally trade and co-operate with one another. We have one major inherent problem that we repeat, over and over. We have made this mistake everywhere we have settled in large numbers, we destroy the environment around us.

I thought the op was referring to greed, which has always been around.
I agree with your main point though. We need to stop focusing on expanding our our cities and start focusing on controlling our population and recources. The more of us there are, the less there is of the environment we rely on.

I think the OP means to burn the world and start over without humans to destroy it. Or eventually introduce humans like in this world but stick to our values.

But values are all subjective. Unless you take away free will, people will always think differently; Think different things are "right" and "wrong"

Don't worry, the cleansing fire of the atom will purge this planet before the century is over.

A good apocalypse will probably bring the few survivors way of thinking around, and in the next couple centuries we can try again.

My vote goes to "without religion/capitalism/democracy"

A common misconception. No amount of war has EVER stopped global population growth Our numbers are now growing beyond what this planet can sustain.
Should we continue on the path we're on, there will be no next century, and there will be no survivors.

A common misconception. No previous war was ended by a massive nuclear cataclysm.

Aside, "numbers" are already staggering in most first world countries. Global breed rates are going down, only increased survivability is an issue. As things go, in case of a nuclear holocaust, that increased survivability will be gone in a flash.

          Have you forgotten about WWII?
Two cities, Hiroshima and Nagasaki were utterly destroyed by nuclear weapons.
Even with that PLUS all the other deaths due to the war with Imperial Japan, the population of Japan only decreased by a few million people. It only took one or two years for Japan to recover that population. What's interesting, is that if you look at a population chart for Japan in that era, (1930-1960) although the chart shows a decline, the population growth over this period remains fairly constant. (You can draw a straight line over that declination, as if it never happened)

Little Boy: 13 kilo tons explosive power
Fat Man: 21 kilo tons explosive power

Total: 34 kilo tons explosive power.
126'000 dead inmediately, 90'000 by radiation.

            No nuclear holocaust.

1 hydrogen bomb: 10.4 MEGA tons explosive power(800 times hiroshima)
            nuclear warheads per country(estimate 2009):
            China ~ 180
            France ~ 300
            Britain ~ 160
            Russia ~ 13000(4830 operative)
            USA ~ 9400(2700 operative)
            India ~ 50
            Pakistan ~ 60
            Israel ~ 80
            North Korea < 10
Thats 8370 warheads useable right away. Each of those has, on average, plenty more power than those, lets say even _1_ Megaton(Zarbomb has 60 Megatons alone), so 8370 Megatons, or 246176 times the explosive power of both bombs on japan combined.

While casualties will not scale linear, the total collapse of infrastructure WILL increase total casualties accordingly. Multiplying the total of 200k dead by 246k times the power would lead to 49 billion people dead. Now as said it doesn't nowhere scale linearly, but even one fifth of this is enough to utterly wipe us off the face of this planet.

THAT is nuclear cataclysm. Not 2 small bombs that were technically weapon tests on living targets.
