Is it normal that I want to be schizophrenic?

  • My brother is schizophrenic. I remember he used to hear things and he thought that the cat was a robot that was there to spy on him. He used to constantly worry that his food is being poisoned by "them".

He also had these delusions that he was actually a prince that was constantly monitored and kept at a normal house by evil people and tried to break away from the 'prison'. Then there was a phase where he thought that he was the prophet of Ahura Mazda (the word for god in the Zorastrian religion).

He got better after taking a cocktail of medicines, but then my parents didn't force him to take his meds for awhile. He stopped taking them immediately and then went over to my mom's brother's house where they were into all this new age bible thinking where they tried to 'cure' him with prayer for a week. Yeah...that worked lol. Anyway, found him under a table shivering due to the chemical imbalance.

He now takes a revolutionary new drug (that only works for about 25% of patients) and is now working as an editor at a magazine ten years after starting to take the drug. Pretty cool huh?

Anyway...my point is that you definitely don't want to be a schizophrenic
