If you view your relationship as a waste then why don't you brake up with him? It wouldn't be fair to him if you stayed in the relationship and then later on started to blame or hate him for "wasting your youth", which could happen. It's not like he's trapping you, just do what you want for goodness sake!
I understand what you're saying and as for why I have yet to break it off. Well, the immense amount of emotion I feel when in his presence is insane and I know I'd never want to leave that or him behind.
