Try thinking of it as being potentially horrible for a lot of people instead of it as being interesting.

No it is not normal to want to go to war becuase you think it is fun to watch. This sounds like something a serial killer would say. I just dissected my brother and killed him because I thought it was interesting. No this is in no way normal. SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP.

Why do North Korean people who were born into opression deserve less pitty then anyone else? Thinking about how those people live and suffer right now would be anough reason to lose sleep.

I don't pity anyone. If the entire country were to get wiped from existence at this moment in time I couldn't give a fuck, my shit life would carry on as normal. Or to put it another way if one random person in the world died today should I care? What does it matter if hundreds or thousands of people I don't know or care about get killed as well? Should I care because of there sheer number?

Sorry, I thought you just didn't care about North Koreans. But if you don't care about people in general then at least you're consistent. And the way it sounds to me you are so consitent you don't even care about yourself.

That's kind of sad but also impressive.

I can't really tell you why the suffering of so many people makes me feel bad. I guess it's kind of an emotional thing.

Hell fucking no. Yes the United States does have the capacity to annihilate the Korean Peninsula off the map but that would easily cause a domino effect where the North Koreans could fire missiles in the other direction annihilating the West Coast.

Now let's add the Nuclear arsenal of other countries like Iran, Russia, China, India, Pakistan, the United kingdom etc. Now it wouldn't be a localised war like the earlier world wars but potentially spell the end of not only North Korea, but the entire planet.

Anyway North Korea is nothing but rattling it's saber. I believe this entire build up is for the New and rather young leader Kim Jong Um to consolidate his power among the North Korean populous.

Dont be silly, N.Korea couldn't even reach U.S. mainland. U.S. Missile defense system is top of the line, even if you want to pretend N.Korea could launch that far across the Pacific. we would knock them down many miles off our coast.

This is nothing more than posturing. Making Kim Jong Un look ridiculous in the process. Like a Chihuahua picking a fight with a Pit Bull.

They won't even invade S.Korea, because they know it would provoke a U.S. attack on themselves.

But what about the repercussions should the US launch missiles? Would you think Russia and China would stand by and ignore this?

Nuclear warfare is a completely different ball game, the effects will not only effect Korea but the entire world. What about the out laying US territories like Guam or Hawaii? What about the American bases in Japan and South Korea?

Oh and no doubt the North Koreans know superiority of the US arms - but with a fanatic government who brainwashes it's people - no doubt they will adopt a Nazi type scotch earth policy.

Russia and China ignore what? The U.S. defending itself from an aggressive, unprovoked military strike?
If they (N.Korea) hit Hawaii or any other base of U.S. operations, their entire country will be flattened.

Kim Jung Un is just a little kid with a new big toy trying to get attention.

I'm more concerned with Obama launching an aggressive military offensive against Iran. It would be sure to upset NATO if U.S. continues to invade the middle east.

Why would the U.S. care about the fallout if they decide to nuke North Korea?

The radioactive radius of such a fallout would would probably only be a couple of miles (or less) as I don't think they would use their biggest bombs on such a little country. (And when I say not use their biggest I mean not wipe N.Korea completely off the planet)

Also, they would drop the bomb in a place where the blast would not affect China or South Korea.

Interesting, but I definitely do not want it to happen. I don't need millions to die to give me something to be interested in.

I mean, I think that someone needs to put them in their place. They keep playing fast and loose, just attacking random S Korea ships and whatnot.

But the reality is we are in debt bad and can't afford another war especially one with N Korea. Let's take care of stuff on the homefront before we worry about what everyone else is doing.

        • My point is that North Korea knows that it stands no real chance so Kim Jong-Un won't actually do shit unless the US gets aggressive and starts a war, which would be armageddon. It would probably start world war 3. But in reality most likely none of that will happen because North Korea just makes threats all the time to get sanctions lifted and to get more free food. I have a better idea.

We select half the prisoners from around the world. We do this by asking the prisoners themselves.

We surgically sexually sterilize each selected prisoner.
We surgically implant a GPS device into each prisoner.
They are instructed not to enter the DMZ, cross the border into China, or attempt to cross any sea, in any way.
We give each prisoner a stick, a knife and a short piece of rope. Three days supply of food and water.
We drop them by parachute in the approximate geographical centre of North Korea.
We do not fire a shot, unless we are fired at first.
10,000 per day, until Dear Leader Kim and his militant Generals learn to shut their mouth, stop sabre-rattling and threatening others, as well as complying with UN nuclear regulations.

Any so-called 'humanitarians' who squawk can go too!

Interesting, however, my plan differs substantially from the cited work of literature.

Firstly, it is not Authoritarian in nature, and no one will be forced to comply. Instead, the prisoners will be given an opportunity to receive a 'Get out of prison free' reward. In exchange, they will need to sign legal waivers for allowing the sexual sterilization procedure (spayed or neutered), implantation of the GPS devices and absolving any future legal action for the risks (potential injury) involved.
For the 'squawkers', we can just invite them to go there to help resolve the situation. Most will back down, I think. For the others, we can always use trickery or deceit (Ethical) to get them to board the plane. Then we can make a deal with them (i.e. sign the legal waiver, and we will give you a parachute).

Of course, we will also provide a copy of the 'Rules' to each prisoner, and ask them to behave in a Humanitarian and Ethical way.
Also, they will be reminded that if they choose to live by a gun, they will die by a gun (should they come across any and are able to obtain these or other military equipment), except and unless their life is in a clear and present (immediate) state of danger. They should, therefore, destroy weaponry that they might come across. (*Also, not to go near nuclear sites).

Now, has Mr. Kim and his Generals come to their sensibilities yet?
It's really quite easy to defuse this situation. Mr. Kim should phone Mr. Kerry. Mr. Kim should ask Mr. Kerry for help, to dismantle all nuclear sites and weapons in North Korea. In exchange, Mr. Kerry will offer Mr. Kim help in developing clean, green, sustainable Geothermal Energy resources and Sustainable Agricultural Practices, in order to feed the millions of starving people there. The best way to do this, is to formulate a plan for population reduction (half the population, twice as much food for everyone). This does not absolve neighbouring countries (Eastern China, South Korea and Japan) from also reducing their populations, which will help to ease tensions in the region.
To be fair, Mr. Kim has a point. We (USA), do not have any military business in that region. No one is going to attack the Northern New World continent, in the foreseeable future. With Gary Johnson I agree that we should close these bases and move these troops home (unless they are there to help the local population in building sustainable infrastructure). If anyone 'decides' to attack any of our friends across the water, then, we should deal with them accordingly.

I really hope it doesn't come to that. U.S. military bases are very close to the DMZ. When my bf was stationed over there, he was told his life expectancy was about 5 minutes if N. Korea decided to attack...they have the 3rd largest army in the world or something like that. Of course the U.S. could handle it, but the cost of human lives would be high.
