Is it normal that i want airplanes to get permission

You know how if you buy land in most countries, you own whatever is under the property? So when there is oil in your land, you own the oil.

You also have air rights when owning land.

I have a a couple of pieces of land, and I don't want aircrafts and helicopters flying above my property without my permission. It should be my right to refuse to share my air! Airplanes are trespassing my property. At least give the land owners some respect, and ask for permission, or pay taxes for flying through my space.

Is It Normal?

  • I hope I live on the exact other side of the earth and argue that I want you kicked off my property because you are directly underneath me.

  • I have actually thought about this before. It will never happen though.

  • 2 things.

1: When you buy land, in most countries you are only buying a lease from the Government. If the government comes and says "I want this land" they can take it. I know it's wrong but the government is sick.

2: Most properties are owned to a ceiling height. This ceiling is usually a few thousand feet or sometimes only a few hundred. After that it's government owned and they allow it to become commercial airspace.

    • Yes, my country where I'm from actually forcibly buys the land from the owner if oil was found. Some other countries only let an owner own the property for only 99 years to which inheritence wouldn't be possible for many generations. (this could be limited to apartment, I'm not sure)

A town in Egypt bans property owners to dig down their own property even a couple of feet down. The town is rich with ancient Egyptian treasures. I think those who dig get sent to jail.

  • The only way you could accomplish this is that if you could prove that the plane that is about 35,000 feet in the air above your land is some how having a negative effect on your land ie. causing damage. But it doesn't so you literally would have no case.

    • But it's my right. Why would I have to prove anything and make a case?

When you own land, "you own it all the way up to heaven and all the way down to hell. "

      • Yes you do own it but it doesn't mean you can do what ever you want to it, or on it. Take tresspassing for example, you can only shoot someone on your land in self defence or protection of the actual property, if you blitzed the postman as he's walking up the driveway just because he's on your land then you will probably end up in jail.
