Actually that is not always true. Personality disorders are something that does not have a consistant cause. Sometimes they are caused by a bad upbringing but sometimes they are genetic. For example schizotypal pd is usually genetically a mild version of schizophrenia and antisocial pd is often genetic as well. obsessive compulsive pd and schizoid pd often run in families too. They can be developed in some people in some cases but are usually a mix of genetics and upbringing. They are often also caused by other disorders as comorbid conditions.
I have mild autism (aspergers). I have been diagnosed with other things such as schizoaffective disorder and personality disorders. These things are very common to come along with autism because autism rarely comes alone.
Still I have lots of friends who have personality disorders and some of them have a harder time functioning than me.
All disorders come in a spectrum from mild to severe. Fortuneatly for me while I have probably 10 mental disorders all of them are fairly mild to where I can function even if Im medicated I have a lot of benefits from them such as creativity and high intelligence but I am terrible at things like executive functioning and understanding emotions.
A lot of my personality disordered friends have a very hard time keeping their lives together.
Any diagnosis effects people differently so you cannot stereotype them.
I do know people with bpd and they can often be unpredictable. I have a hard time understanding them because some of the symptoms of Asperger's seem opposite, where I do not understand emotion well at all and do not experience them intensely people with bpd often over react to what seem like little things to me.
Is it normal that I want a personality disorder?

Did you even read what I have said? I don't want to be autistic or retarded.Personality disorders aren't something people are born with.

But they can't be compared to autism or mental retardation.
