Either get a dog or offer to care for one while the owners are on holiday.
You will get a very TINY taste of responsibility. You have to be home at a certain time to feed or walk it, it may howl disturbing the neighbours, it may get sick, it may get you up in the night if it's in a different place, etc.
Anyhow, I would rather have cared for 20 dogs than have my own son at 30yo with a hubby to help!!!!
