Careful what you wish for, you say living in a house is a shield from the outside world but it's actually a shield from the harsh elements. Some people live in shacks and cardboard boxes and wish they lived in a house, I get where you're coming from though it's just that you would see living in a shack as a fancy but the fact is that you know you could always live in such house when you find it sucks... some people don't have that luxury.
I live in a 40 year old trailer with no heat or air. Rats scamper throughout the walls all night. They're basically eating through my house. A shack would be just fine. If it had a fireplace, a good roof and a nice view that would be a luxury.
