You seem like an ice queen. Men have feelings. They need space after a relationship especially if they're the dumpee.
Also people normally get special attention when they date. I was never a major texter but my ex begged and pleaded and said it was important so I ended up texting him every day. He dumps me. I revert to my normal self and get a "How come you don't text me to ask how my day was?" Get used to the lack of attention.
It's okay that you still want to maintain a friendship just be careful how you go about that.
