  • Yes it is normal and I will tell you why.
A part of you likes it secretly but are ashamed that you like it secretly. It isn't a sin and you aren't the only one. History is replete with folks just like this.

Now what you probably don't like are the sort that you have had many dealings with.

Now as for "egging them on" I don't blame you. While I am a furry, there are certain ranks within it I will never understand. One of those ranks are the sort who want to pick fights with what they call trolls and then can't take the heat once they've played with the fire. The sort who do this are also the sort who will make the biggest drama on a website. They really are funny to set off and even I have been banned from some furry boards because I couldn't resist myself, especially if they posted stuff I didn't like.

As for the CSI episode; I like it. Why?

Well first, I found out about the fandom through the episode and through my own curiosity about the terminology used by the characters on the episode.

Second, it is incredible the polarization the episode brought. If you are a furry, you either love the episode or hate it intensely. I have never met a furry who was indifferent to it.

Third, Even I think it is funny to see the reactions when I bring up the episode. Some furries nearly blow their gaskets about the mere mention of that episode.

Fourth, If you ever quoted a quote from that episode to me I would probably laugh. I invoked a lot of laughs at a convention one time when I knocked on my friend's door and one of his friends inside, answered the door and asked me for a password. I quoted Katherine Willows and said "E-I-E-I-O!" and was met with uproarious laughter from my friend, who let me in and high-fived me for the perfect use of a CSI quote at a convention that wasn't scripted.

    Bottom line though is this.
Anyone who reacts in a manner that is disproportional to the stimulus is funny. It seems that many who act this way find themselves in the furry fandom and it is one question I still don't know after having found out about it 7 years ago.
