On the subject if religion: I used to be a Christian and I'm not now. I won't bash you for your views, though:)
Health wise studies say that it's quite healthy to do so. I don't understand why they say it's a sin. What you like/do in private is your business, isn't it? That is as long as others don't get harmed as a result of it, but I fail to see how this could harm someone...
You don't have to let others know you do it and if someone does finds out, then it really isn't any of their concerns. I'm willing to bet you that there are allot of catholics/other sects out there that love to masturbate. Some are probably ashamed of it too while some probably aren't.
My point is: don't stop doing what you love because you are scared of what others think. I've been doing that practically my whole life and it's not fun to live a lie. Just follow your heart and if people say otherwise, then ignore them. Remember, to always love yourself:)
