If you look back, sure there have been a lot of wars throughout history, but those were more events caused by a few twisted maniacal, power hungry tyrants who gave orders to the soldiers to kill.
But nowadays, people have become more evil on an individual level. Meaning there's a lot more people who do bad things by themselves, who kill, abuse and harm others just to satisfy their urges.

Historically, people that kill for fun could join the army and be in a war. Now, introverted nerdy little dorks like mwa write computer code for precision weapon systems. Takes the fun out of it for the sickos. So they find different outlets for their sick shit. That creates even more jobs at the NSA for the wussy computer nerds that masturbate for a social life.
