Is it normal that I think that psychology is a scam?

  • Those tricks and that knowledge on the human behavior is empirical. You don't need to study psychology to know that. Besides, I think you should read and analize what I write before you answer. I never act as if I couldn't be manipulated. Anyone can be manipulated, but psychologists don't know accurate techniques to do so. We rely on our intuition and experience to do that.

Science is supposed to go beyond that and determine the cause and effects of things. Psychology doesn't achieve that in most of its researchs.

And well, you seem to be getting a little aggresive for no reason, so I will just leave it here.

    • I already said you could pick up basic tricks just by observing people. I never said you had to study it to learn those tricks. I am saying that is "psychology" that is very basic though. You can learn a lot from watching people and paying attention. I also said most psychologists don't use true psychology in my other comments. Interrogators use these type of thing to get information out of people. Criminals use manipulation to hurt people. It is the study of "Behaviour" that is Psychology. So predicting how someone will react is actually psychology you just don't realize it. Anyone can get tricked. Knowing the trick does not mean you can get out of it. Especially when that person is playing everyone around you. So a trickster can always mess up your life. I have known many of them. Those tricks are simple and I learned it from watching people. Certain behaviour is predictable and you will see patterns. A lot of people make the same mistakes. Why do you think there is so many of the same posts on this site? Most people make the same type of mistake and so many others. No matter how many times we find a solution to it that thing will keep happening. So if you find the patterns you find the trick.

      • I agree with what you say, but just observation is not enough for a true science. Experimentation is necessary to truly know the causes of things. I never said psychology isn't real. Of course it is. It is just not "practical" as a product, that's my whole point.

          • Not knowing how to use something does not mean it is not practical. they teach you these steps in science. You should remember them. I linked it since I was not sure if I could explain it so well. The link breaks down the steps.
