Hahaha it's actually more normal than these people would have you believe. I use to feel that way in high school all the time, actually, though I knew it was impossible and I knew it wasn't true, I would often find myself thinking of a song or situation that my fellow classmates would shun, and quickly change my thinking so that they couldn't hear it.
It's not so much that you fear that they can hear what you're thinking, it's the fear that the look on your face and the "vibe" or energy you give off may tip them off and they may guess. That, mixed with perhaps the guilt of thinking those things in the first place, gives you the feeling of being watched and judged, which can lead to the feeling of being listened to even though you aren't talking.
It's strange, but it's normal in the sense that a lot of people feel like that at least once in their lives.
Is it normal that I think other people can hear my thoughts?
