Anyone suffering abuse should get away as soon as possible. Abuse is terrible and no abuse victim finds it easy to "come out" as abused, but the threat of non-acceptance and repercussions for the abused person is what enables abusers. You don't have to tell anyone until you want to - you don't owe anyone an explanation.
