I don't know if it is normal but I am the same. Personally I do not think it is lame, delusional yes, but not lame. I empathize with you. Whenever a girl talks to me or expresses that she wants to talk to me I become convinced that she may be infatuated with me; however, I know that I am wrong. Thus, I suppress the feeling and convince myself that she just wants to have a talk because we are friends. Due to my suppression, I can sort of control my infatuating but my delusion is still there.
Exactly. I used to think that if a single girl said anything to me at all that she must like me.....Which could not have been more wrong. It is called kindness. If someone dropped their pen wouldn't you point it out even if you didn't know them?
IIN that I think I'm in love with someone that's paid attention to me?

I've learned not to confuse kindness with infatuation. I agree I would help someone out.
