I guess I will go against the grain here. I say go ahead and pursue something with the friend. I had a similar thing happen to me in that I was seriously crushing on another girl but was too afraid to act on the hints she threw at me. Anyhow I got into a relationship with another girl whom became good friends with the girl I was crushing on. When our relationship started heading downhill I started crushing on the other chick again. Once we broke up and after much debate with my friends I tried to hook up with my original crush. We went out a few times but in the end she was loyal to my ex. Now my ex truly hates me but who cares she's my ex and she hates me anyway (just a little more now) at least I don't sit in bed and wonder what if anymore. In the end you gotta look out for number 1 trust me you will probably regret not seeing what could have been.
