  • It is a sort of "them and us" mentality, a friendly rivalry between dog and cat people. I've heard a lot of cat people "hating" on dogs as well, just as much as the other way around. There has been a lot of dog-hate from cat people just from the comments on this story.

    If your observation is correct, I think that, at one time or another, because dogs are more "human-centric" than cats, everyone has spent a good deal of time with dogs, even if they don't own one. Therefore, a lot of cat people also like them. If you don't own a cat, however, you probably hardly ever come into contact with one, so you don't like them as much.

    That said, from the amount of criticism toward dog people from cat people just on these comments, the OPs "observation" is a total joke.
