I am normally the first person to say that the social pendulum has swung too far and has actually gone the way of counter productivity, but in the case of bullying it has not.
Adolescence is a hard time for everyone and kids can be so cruel. Camera phones, photo editing, memes, social media, etc. provide a non-physical venue to humiliate people that never existed years ago.
It doesn't matter how much you have going for you, if a person or a group decide to ruin you socially,you're in for a world of shit. And it can be a horrible world. Young people are developing and humans are a social species so these things can matter a huge deal.
Normally I'd be with you and say, "man/woman up. Don't be a pussy.." But it is different now. It is too easy, too efficient, and too permanent to just brush aside. The days of fighting it out after school, or rumors vanishing through hearsay and time- are gone. Don't be cruel.
