I love that a lot of of Americans like British accents! There's a lot of diversity within the accent - seriously, someone can live thirty miles up the road and they sound really different. But then, I think us Brits can tell the difference more easily. I think you're referring to the typical, well spoken accent that's more prevalent in London and the South. I can see the attraction even though it's my own accent! But it's also just 'normal' to me. I do like Australian accents (all types.)
