No worries, I keep my distance from family and friends as well. People like us don't easily open up to others but when you meet someone special, after a while they are easy to open up to and talk to and they become your best friend.
Also, if you think your parents aren't encouraging you enough then learn to take pride in yourself because at the end of the day your the one who knows what your accomplishments are worth and that's what matters.
