I beg to differ with the previous blog. If a person truly has ADD (and I'm not sure that's the case) conjoined with Addiction problems, the illicit drug use is likely self-medicating the ADD. A few such individuals, were part of a Harvard study in 2005. It was noted that, when treating their ADD with psychostimulants, 13 out of 13 of the cocaine addicts/Adult ADDers remained clean for at least ten months (the time of the study). Also, they were exposed to twelve steps and relapse prevention which contributed to their sobriety as well. The control group had the relapse P without the psychostimulants, and only 18 percent remained abstinent.
I don't advise that ANYONE with addiction problems automatically think that these psych. Stim's will fix them and save the day. Usually people with many attempts at abstinence and many failures are stumbled upon as severely ADD.
So, rather than being like a shot/hit/line of cocaine, it well serves as the prevention of such in many cases. So, please don't oversimplify. It could literally kill someone
As for the lawschool student, it does sound like your abusing these meds.
