Is it normal that i still like him?

There's this guy that I really like alot and I can't stop thinking about him. The thing is, I havn't seen him since August (It's now the end of April so 8 months), he's a few years older than me, and though I've known him since I was 5, I've barely talked to him (he actually used to annoy the crap out of me). Is it normal that I'm still head over heels for him?
