It's normal to not like a particular band or type of music, regardless of how popular it is.
There are a few very popular (or once very popular) bands and artists that aren't my cup of tea, either, but most people enjoy them.
A lot of people just don't like hearing others say they hate or dislike a band they greatly appreciate. It isn't at all uncommon for them to say something along the lines of "You don't know what real/good music is". In reality, it's all subjective.
But, to be honest, I don't think it does anyone any good to get fired up over another person's taste in music, or to make unnecessary comments about it. If asked about a particular band I don't care for, I simply say "Eh, it's not my taste" and leave it at that, rather than saying it's not real music or anything that will obviously come off as inflammatory or disrespectful. If you would like for others to respect your opinion, it's best to be respectful towards theirs as well.
Is it normal that I still hate Pink Floyd?
