Society seems to have misunderstood the purpose that a "psychotherapist" serves. "Therapist" is rather vague, it can also mean a physiotherapist. A psychotherapist helps an individual handle emotional/psychiatric problems that cause them a great deal of distress. They help both the mentally ill as well as compos mentis individuals using talk therapy.They do not prescribe medication. They are also NOT people to consult simply because society disagrees with your actions
