I understand where you're coming from, but you're generalizing quite a bit. I know nice people who are nice because that's just who they are and not because they are necessarily under-confident or because they want something from me. But you don't necessarily have to be a "nice" person to be likable; nice people and good people are not always the same thing. It sounds like your dick friends who you can be a dick to are probably good people too, they just share your sense of humor.
