Is it normal that i sometimes hate how my mind works?

Hi!
I'm a genius, and I sometimes I just hate it. On occasion, it feels good, but other times I just feel strange.
My life is not so bad.. I have friends and a social life, and other interests, which is pretty unusual for someone of my IQ.
But even with my reasonably normal life, I know my mind is working so differently from everyone else's... And then I just feel weird.

Yes it's normal. Your mind is kind of annoying.

You feel weird...like you don't fit in with others or you're alone and no one understands you, perhaps? Just a guess, as I wish I too was a genius, but instead I'm just insane.

True genius requires a touch of insanity

  • When you're substantially different from everyone else, no matter the reason, it's always going to feel weird.
    Oh, well. :/

I'm not doubting you're a genius like all these other fools, but maybe you're thinking about it too much. I would not think being a genius is something to be worried about. You just need to learn to have fun with your own mind, loosen up and know it's okay to think your own way. I'm not saying I'm a genius, but on my best days I let my thoughts play all day and I analyze them and overthink them and direct them into insidious conclusions...then I'll laugh at them and tell myself "hah! you're crazy" and let it go. Let your mind be your friend.

With that grammar, I would label you "sub-genius".

You seem a bit into yourself. I almost wonder if this is a troll post.

You're talking to someone who started writing her autobiography at age three. Yes, I guess I'm slightly into myself. But when you think as much as I do, then it happens

If you were a genius, your punctuation would be perfect. It is not perfect.

Maybe she's a genius at something other than punctuation. I heard other subjects exist.

        As Socrates once said:

Genius is not knowing things. One of the reasons so many geniuses go slightly insane is due to their ability to see things on a wider scope- besides for that, more knowledge usually occurs.

This problem affects me as well, everyday.
Aside from IQ scores, I suggest you to take a look at Myers-Briggs personality type indicators, which are a very well recognized science.
I, for example, discovered I was an INFJ, which is the rarest type of all, and that all the INFJs out there suffer problems like feeling like aliens among all the other people.
It helped me a lot to know that there were people out there exactly like me, even if I never met them irl.

I think I took that at one point. I was pretty normal there- INFP.

Being the rarest accentuates it, but INFPs also have these problems, my girlfriend is INFP.
Maybe it's stereotypical, but some think IQ is usually higher in 'N' types, because they can manage theoretical ideas better, while 'S' types are down-to-earth.
It would probably help getting to know someone you can relate better to, to speak freely every now and then about all those things your usual friends wouldn't get, without discarding them away.

Also, if you haven't seen it, there's a simpson episode about this problem, I found it very interesting. Episode id: HOMR.

Regarding the test- I actually did not fit properly into any of them, but this was closest, so I don't even know exactly.

It won't separate you. You just make new friends at MENSA meetings. It's fun and enriching.
