It's Yahweh's name for his first best angel. Means bringer of light. After being cast out became satan, for the name is what you are, and to god at least according to the mythos- he was no longer that.
In Judaism, Lucifer is not necessarily Satan. Ha-Satan is a noun describing the adversary of god. Kind of like a lawyer. The roman catholic church used this name during the burning times to strike fear into the uneducated populace. They also used Lucifer for the same reason. Which is how he got his bad reputation.
Is it normal that I see nothing wrong with the name 'Lucifer' ?
