It really depends on how the organization is managed. Many are quite wasteful with admin costs. However some of them employ lots of staff, so even if only ten cents of the dollar go towards the actual work, they are providing a job for someone in the community. A bit backwards, but jobs are hard to come by.
Also, these things take research. Most people are too lazy to actually look at the details. There are many charities, some do good work, I'm sorry that some have ruined the concept for you. If you truly cared, you would give your time and volunteer.
I have done this work. You sound like someone who just likes to complain. And it's a valid complaint, but it solves nothing. But personally, I would hate to see the concept of charity go away simply because there are bad people and stupid people taking advantage of the system.
