Is it normal that i really loathe children?

I really and truly LOATHE children in every way! I don't want to see them, hear them, smell them (kids STINK), be touched by them, or in any way be near them! I despise all kids under the age of 12. Yes, I know I was one at one time, but I probably would have hated myself then too. So don't respond with that as an argument. I don't like to hold babies or see your pictures of them, I DON'T consider your kids cute, I don't want to hear them scream or talk, I am not interested in anything they have to say. I also could not care in the least about helping children in any way, shape, or form! If you think that makes me a bad person, I don't care! But I do know tgat I am not alone in loathing these irritating, dirty, disgusting, germ factories!

To not want children? Fine, normal. To hate them as much as you do though speaks very poorly of you. If you can't understand that they are a necessary part of life and their brains aren't fully formed yet then you are the problem, not them. If you can't find any aspect of a happy child in any situation in which to take joy then I feel really sorry for you.

But it's your choice. Be as miserable as you like, everyone else will just carry on without you, no problem.

      This.

I have no problem with people not liking kids. I can understand it, even though I don't dislike kids personally (most of the time...)

But adults who choose to be jerks to kids are awful people. Kids are still learning. Adults are old enough to know better.

Exactly. I think people are trying to shock you or sound interesting when they say they hate kids, when in reality it makes them sound very childish and naive. It's the sort of thing a 13 yr old says and then realises how stupid it was when they are grown up.

That's what I was like at 13, for sure.

I can understand people being annoyed by kids in their space. Kids are annoying sometimes. But the way I see it, there's 3 ways kids are annoying in public...1, the kids are not being kept in check - and that's the parents/carers fault, not the kids; 2, the kids are unwell or having a melt down because they're tired etc - no one enjoys that, but I can guarantee that the child and the parent/carer are having a far harder time dealing with it than anyone else; or 3, the annoyed onlooker is being unreasonable. We're all faced with irritating shit on a daily basis. People annoy the fuck when I'm out in public, but there's no changing it, so I deal with it and try to be a decent person so I'm not adding to the shit. Adults misbehaving is by far worse than children misbehaving.

          End rambling rant.

I think that's the most reasonable way of looking at it - every living thing is annoying in some way. Children are not constantly being awful (unless their parents are awful lol). Sometimes when a toddler is eating in a cafe they are reasonably quiet, and they smile at people who walk past and babble. Not always, but sometimes. I don't think anyone can honestly say that that's more annoying than a group of drunk people waiting at the bus stop screaming, openly urinating in the near by bushes and harassing the other sober people waiting to get on the bus. We've all been in situations like that too. Those people are adults.

I think ultimately when someone says they hate kids in any situation at any time they have something seriously wrong with them. It would be like saying "ew, let's leave, this is awful" when someone with downsyndrome enters the same cafe as them because there is a chance that the person will have trouble speaking at an appropriate volume. People who can't cope in any situations like that are pretty pathetic and selfish in my eyes.

It's not always a choice to not be able to cope. I have sound sensitivity (related to autism/anxiety). When children are screaming (or other people are yelling) it sets off my anxiety, which often causes immediate physical symptoms like nausea and shakiness from stress signals that my malfunctioning brain is sending. I never say anything in public but it does make me hate children (though mostly their parents, who choose to inflict the screaming/crying on other folks when they should have hired a babysitter).

There are so many people like that.

I put it down to ignorance and entitlement.

This confuses me, I didn’t really like kids at one stage either but now I really do. And under 12 is definitely a very large range of ages sheesh. There are alot of good things to kids some can be really smart and talented and they are generally very kind and caring to others. I just find it strange how you absolutely hate them as babies are literally made to look cute so we take care of them, big eyes, big heads etc. But hey everyone is different.

I spent a lot of time with my little cousin for about two months when he was 6/7 years old, and he was a pretty cool little guy.

We used to jam out this all the time!

Some people arnt into kids that being said have some respect for younger humans mate. If it was between my dog and a random kid i would gladly choose the kid over my dog.

I wouldn't. The kid is their parent's problem. They decided to have a kid, it's their responsibility to take care of it. When I adopted my dog, I agreed to take care of the dog, which is /my/ responsibility.

Plus, considering most situations that require saving put the rescuer at risk, I wouldn't risk my own life for a child. My dog though? Absolutely.

Most illnesses are spread in schools, then transferred to adult family members. Kids have no concept of germs and filth. Main reason I'm glad I have no kids and no contact with other people's kids.

I won't want to be in much contact with them since they can be annoying, but I don't hate them. Everyone was once a kid and I'm pretty sure that most of them have been annoying at some point of their lives.

If they're a bit annoying, well that's not really their fault. Most little kids are like that.

However, there are some especially, especially annoying ones that I would surely hate. I know a kid who tries to use a knife to threaten his older sister to give him whatever he wants. And some kids use their privilege as a kid incorrectly. Some kids lie and play innocent to get what they want -- people always believe the kid because "they don't lie". I hate these spoiled kids. If a child behaves appropriately and is not extremely rude + spoiled, I won't dislike him/her.

Totally normal. Not sure if you are an animal person or not but the inverse is true as well. I dont give a crap what your dog or cat did last night, i dont wantto see pictures of them and certainly no videos.

Kids are irritating and obnoxious. I heard an old saying one time was something like "never talk about your children or ailments because nobody gives a crap" Most people who have kids are either just trying to seem "grown up" or else they're too stupid to pull out correctly.

Hopefully less toy stores will get people to realize they need to stop having children. All the population controls in place like flouride and spraying aluminum in the atmostphere are because the population is growing out of control. The world power structure will kill old people because selfish dumbasses won't stop having babies. Babies are the reason they invented cancer.

  • I prefer animals to children, but just barely. Children are definitely at the very bottom of my list, below everything else. OR they are at the top of my list of things I loathe. Notice I said "things," not people. I consider them things.
