I had a friend who did this who had a lot of issues. She struggled a lot through her early years. Anorexia to bulimia to depression etc etc. It turns out a family member had sexually molested her and she repressed it. Her unconscious still remembered the entire thing though and she continued to beat herself up not knowing why. She had big bald patches across her head from constantly pulling her hair out.
I'm not saying that THAT has happened to you, but you really should see a therapist or psychiatrist about it because there might be something really going on. Medication isn't the end-all be-all treatment. Honestly, therapy is the best method for help. Not putting more chemicals into your body.
