you have an active imagination. this is a good thing. creativity breeds intuition. this also is the bud of telepathy. you probably telepathically communicated in a previous life, and we carry over such talents that we already mastered even if we can't remember our previous lives. I have figured this out myself actually. I have inadvertently contacted people telepathically and I saw them in my mind's eye by accident, not realizing what I was doing. I did the same as you, kind of like talking to people in my head, as if practicing or pretending I was talking to them and they responded.
