Is it normal that i pretend my boyfriend is someone else in bed?

I've been in a relationship for the past two years, and recently we just started having sex. However, he has also recently started annoying me and I cannot get over my fetish of British accents, which he does not have. Anyway, I don't think I am ever fully satisfied, because I often pretend that he is someone else in bed. These fantasies have ranged from Robert Pattinson, James McAvoy, Alex Turner, and Miles Kane. I can't get over the fact that he is not like those guys, and he does not have a nice accent.
One time I even asked my boyfriend to dress up like a footballer from Celtic FC and then talk to me in a Glaswegian accent. I also insisted on putting the Last Shadow Puppets or Arctic Monkeys on while we have sex and refuse any other music, so I can focus on Alex Turner or Miles Kane. My boyfriend thinks this is just part of it and goes along with role playing, but little does he know that I am 100%% serious when I think about being with these guys. Is this normal? How will I ever be satisfied with my love life?

    Um that's a little f**ked up.... If me and my girlfriend actually boned and she said she wanted me to be someone else, I'd probably be like hey finish blowing me and get out of my house. I guess fantasy is all good, but not when you truly want them to be somebody else

    i disagree with the above comment and believe that it's very selfish and wrong of you to do that. if you don't like your boyfriend, if you're petty enough to be somewhere else in your mind in bed just because he doesn't have an accent then you need to end things.

    yes it's normal...who are any of us to say what is and what isn't. if you are not hurting anyone...and you are wiling to do things for him too...since he will for you, it's all good. But if you find him annoying already...then you might want to rethink dating him for much longer..because that part WILL NOT get better.

    yes i think it is normal, but if you are worried about it, tell your boyfriend exactly what is going on in your head. otherwise if you call out another mans name during sex he will jump to the conclusion you are seeing someone else! this happened to me with my husband and it took a long time to convince him he had nothing to worry about!

      I don't think she should come out and tell him that she's thinking of other men because she no longer likes him. That would be devastating. Honesty is one thing, but that's just cruel.

    My ex boyfriend told me that if I didn't say his name during sex, he always thought I was thinking of someone else, or he wanted to be sure that I was thinking of him. Little did he know, I was saying his name just to make him happy, but still thinking about someone else. Then I realized how stupid it all was and dumped him for his needy insecurities/jealousy/possessiveness/obsessiveness/stalkerness/etc

    well i disagree with both the comments above...

    it is very normal to imagine other people during sex....

    there is nothing wrong with it. unless you imagine him as someone else 24/7 then there is a problem you should call someone for help

    but if it makes you feel better in bed then do it. who knows maybe he is imagining someone else too

    actually i hear people do that to make sex better .. but you're not supposed o bring it up unless yoru boyfriend says anythign about it .. but yeah .. i need to work on doing that .. lol .. (seriously)

      Fantasizing and role-playing are both understandable and common, but she's pretending he's someone else because she doesn't like the guy any more. To me, that's different.

    While I was taking a psychology class, we actually learned that it is very normal to have fantasies about other men/ women while having sex with them. It's also very healthy.

        I think that's what's going on here. She's not thinking of others to make the sex better. She's thinking of someone else because she can't stand the one she's with.
