I used to be in a relationship that eventually ended up being cuddling only and no sex. I felt disappointed. Nearing the end of that relationship, I started to think sex was more important than it really was.
Since then, I've learned it was more than a lack of sex which was a problem in that relationship, there was no intimacy; not even with all the long hugs I wanted. Cuddling with someone who loves and desires you is considerably different from cuddling with someone who merely cares for you. And, even though cuddling with a person who cares for you is pleasant, cuddling with someone who loves and desires you is phenomenal. I'm so glad I figured out the difference.
Is it normal that I prefer cuddling to sex?

I can understand how you feel the way you do. :)
