I don't think it's weird. You guys are used to it and that is simply the way you are.
In my family I do pee in front of my mom to this day (I am a 17 yrs old girl) and I used to take showers with her when we were late. I have never seen my dad peeing or taking a shower. I don't have a brother, but if I did I'm pretty sure he would take showers with my dad or see him peeing. Just as me and my mom do.
You have a close family. That's it! There's nothing wrong with it although it is very unusual. This is why your boyriend thought it was weird.
