I can completely identify wanting to ignore him and pretend he was a stranger, but given there are legal issues involved maybe if you see him, acknowledge his presence, and then go about your way? of course, way easier said than done
I've always felt that a lot of separations are worsened and fueled by each person's demeanor -after- the splitting, rather than the events leading upto it.
