I think you will eventually reach the point where you either give up, or your desire for a relationship will be greater than your fear. Look at it like this: every person alive is afraid to talk to someone their attracted to. No matter how confident they are, there is always that little bit of fear that tells them they just might not be good enough. The only way to overcome fear is to do the very thing that makes you afraid. You can start out small by talking to random people, asking for directions etc. Then move up to talking to attractive guys, then guys you like. It's all little steps to the big problem.
