Is it normal that i need to know a baby is okay when i hear it crying?

There are some things that just set off my anxiety like a snap. One of them is the sound of a baby crying. Every time I'm out in public and I hear a baby crying, I NEED to look around and make sure the kid is okay. Luckily it's gotten to the point where so long as someone who looks like the parent is attending to them I can relax, cause frankly, I'd probably lose my mind if I had to question whether every "parent" is legitimate and not a kidnapper or something.

Oddly enough even my mom experiences this, so likely I learned this from her. It should be noted I've never had kids, gotten pregnant, or gotten someone else pregnant, and the closest I've come to raising a child was looking after my younger brother occasionally (we're 9 years apart in age).

Not really. Babies are parasitic sacks of nonsentient flesh. Congrats, evolution tricked you into caring about them.

You're only grown with your big kid brain because someone bothered to care about you when you were a baby.

Small beginnings- none of us have any business looking down on babies.

Babies are sentient as they have "the readiness to perceive sensations; elementary or undifferentiated consciousness".
