As a male, I much prefer neatly trimmed to bald. I feel kinda sorry for the woman having the hassle of regularly shaving such a tender, hard to reach place. Also, I much prefer a bush to prickly stubble.
Prepare for things to get itchy there for a while if you decide to let it grow back. This will pass, though, as the hairs get longer.
Something else to think about is friction. I recall reading recently that a British women's cycling team was having real problems with painful chaffing until someone suggested that they stop shaving their pubic hair. Allowing the hair to grow solved all their problems.
