I have made fake ads on craigslist, but not for the same reason. I did it as practical jokes on people such as putting friends phone numbers on funny advertisments so they would get weird calls.
I'm going to guess your ex lied to you because of your homophobia, which would make that topic uncomfortable to bring up. It was a self fulfilling prophecy things turned out this way and doing this for revenge was not normal.
Some guy put up a fake ad about his friend and the joke turned violent because the guy did not know his address was on craigslist and some people showed up to his house and whatnot...The man who posted the ads ended up getting arrested. I don't know the details.
Last year I made missing flyers regarding a pregnant 800lb 10 foot alligator missing from my friends shed with a $50 reward. We live on the lake and I put the flyers up all around the lake and at all the lake parks. He was harassed with calls all month from angry mothers complaining about the alligator in the lake and even the police called him questioning. He had to change his number.
