I think it's normal if you're a girl. Girls can act that way and the majority of people would not see it an inappropriate. If you're a guy than that is not so acceptable espcially to other guys.
I'm totally on the other end of the spectrum I'm not a hugger or kisser at all even with close female friends. Heck as an adult I can't remember the last time I hugged my mum or kissed her. One time she brushed passed my head and ruffled my hair by accident, then smiled and did a playful head pat, hair ruffle thing. I even thought that was a little weird.
The only people I am comfortable being affectionate with are my neices and nephew but they are kids, and its kind of like a thing we have; I get to their house and they run up and almost knock me down with multiple bear hugs.

Yea, I'm a girl. And yea, I also find it weird with my parents. I'm not like this with my immediate family, only my extended family and my friends.
