I think it is normal. People in big groups tend to do really stupid things. We have the tendency to go with the flow and we have the follower mentality. So it just takes one dumbass to throw something or say something senseless and the whole crowd can loose their beans and become retards. It is probably good to just keep your distance and be aware of the mood. I don't think that a crowd of people would just attack you out of the blue though. You may have a type of social anxiety. Maybe get a big group of people that you trust and just practice walking around with them and stuff. In general, people are usually friendly, as long as their not drunk or something. Or if their favorite football team just got their butts handed to them at their home field or something. Just be aware, and rational, and you will be fine.
