Maybe there was not enough money because they were saving for the aircon and TV? Also, you need to place less importance in all these gadgets. I didn't get a pc until I could pay for it myself, and I use an old flip phone because I simply don't see the need for anything more. Try to take up other hobbies and find other things of importance in life than how new your phone is.
As for your Keratosis Pilaris, you should consider scrubbing gently with a pumice stone in the shower and moisturizing the skin regularly with coconut oil (which can be bought fairly cheap from the Indian ethnic cooking section of the store). Or you could try ordinary lotion; it can be worsened by dry skin. Don't try to scrub off the bumps and don't expect immediate results. Give it a month or so and it should start to clear up.
Also, don't be so embarrassed about it. Plenty of people have this issue, and it's possible your family teases you about it in an attempt to make you remove your coat.
