It's normal. I've never hanged out with someone who was older than me, but I've have detailed discussions with them. Your sounds worried because your underage and he's not. I don't see anything bad about your situation. He sounds like a good man and I bet you could benefit from this job. Your however sounds like my mother and grandmother. They don't like me hanging around ANY men that are older than me, but yet they're fine with women. It's sexism and ignorance. Try to work something out with your mother and him.
It't not sexism and ignorance, it's not wanting you to get molested. Do you know how many women are molested? Most women have dealt with older men trying to mess with them even at very young ages, 7 years and up, so it's not like we don't know the dangers.
